Star Wars Atlantis
On Saturday last Star Wars Episodes II and III came on the tube, and, it was nice to see. I think I’d only seen them once or twice before, they weren’t really all that re-watchable, but pretty cool, and not too bad on the special effects. It also made me feel bad for whoever picked Hayden Christensen out of all the gawky teens needed to play Obi Wan’s sidekick/estranged and soon to be completely evil former comrade. I think it was the eyes, they look rather sci-fi, don’t they? At least they didn’t go the easy way out and get Elijah Wood.
I also realised, upon watching this version, how explicitly Obi Wan was off playing hard boiled detective, and leaving Ani to fend for himself first against a woman, and then, a close second in sheer ability to completely subvert its prey, the Emperor.
But that’s not what I wanted to write about. In Episode II, The scene where they arrive back on Naboo, and Anakin is carrying Padme’s suitcases, they are the EXACT same suitcase I had as a graduation present some years ago, which United was unkind enough to destroy, and then replace with a piece of crap (a Delsey, I sold it on Gumtree)- Atlatis Vault is no longer made or available anywhere. Photos of it have been scrubbed from the internet! Maybe I have one on the computer at home and I can upload as a visual aid.
It was the Atlantis Vault 30 inch. And I miss it terribly.
I do like my Samsonite which came later, just before our move to Aus. It’s, roughly 75/25, whereas the Atlantis was more 85/15. Think about it. Wouldn’t you rather fill it up and then slap the lid down? Me too.
