Salvaging

The first rule of salvaging is this: make sure the parts you’re getting actually fit your needs!

The saga of the bike is still ongoing.  I should add some pictures of the welding job. It was done at one of those chopper harley custom motorcycle places. I was half curious to go down there myself, but due to the fact that I take the Siberia Express with Dr Zhivago every morning, I asked Dad-in-law help me out (thanks Granddad!). I thought they did a pretty good job considering.. the only problem being they singed the stickers so now it all looks a bit funny, and definitely no longer worth much. Except to me. This bike and I are now bonded now, like that girl from the truly awful James Bond thriller The World is Not Enough was bonded to the baddie played by the always entertaining Robert Carlyle.

The guy who salvaged and sold me the Fox RP2 rear shock? He must have used the wrong measurements, cause I picked it up, held it against my own shock, and it looked about right. Little did I know it was a full 10mm different, and therefore completely unusable to me! On a slightly positive note, however, i can sell this one on, and purchase the right size. I don’t know if I’m going to get as good a price for the next one, but at least I should get a decent price for this one.

Right now I’m watching this one on eBay. Please don’t bid against me.

In other news I bought some budgie smugglers today.

So is it that you’ve been coerced into buying (and I’m guessing using) those speedos, or is it a flashback to the glory days of high school swim team? Ah well, you’ve always been more comfortable with that sort of thing, and happily you are looking fit! Thank you, thank you for not being a beached walrus!
Also, I would guess that Sharole loves those budgie smugglers…

Rory - I will be wearing these in public come 6 am tomorrow morning. If you get news of a massive riot and human rights violations inflicted on hapless swimming enthusiasts at Parramatta pool, that was me. I did have some when I was in high school, and Sharole is very relieved I’m not wearing those ones, though I still have them. I’m feeling a little strange, but I figure a bunch of other people will be dressed (if you call it that) the same way. Sharole has accepted them, but I’m not entirely sure what her whole feeling on the matter is.

    Rory,

I suggested a larger (fabric) styled attire. I obviously didn’t win. These look ten times better than his HS ones, thankfully. Tobes has always been more game in the clothes attire department. I will say he did adhere to my requests to a or some stripes on the outer sides and that the colour be blue. Black is too stark on his fairer skin.
So I wasn’t ignored, which was nice.
And I’m going to go with flashback to the glory days. I second the beached walrus, but I can’t speak too loud sadly :(

Okay, it has to be said. Where in the heck would you hide a budgie in those tiny things!!!?? I had pictured something entirely different when I read budgie smuggler. LOL

Oh, and did you win the bid for the bike part?

Well so far so good- I’ve heard of no outcries of protest, and it seems that since both of you are accepting, then no need to worry about any quadraplegics who can’t avert their eyes. Besides, what would paralyzed people (bless their hearts) be doing at a pool?

    Kathy,
You’re right there’s absolutely no room for a budgie, I have no idea where the name came from (; I did win the bid, so to speak… I lost that auction but then recieved a second chance offer, they must have had more on the shelf.

    Rory,
When I came out a few women fainted and kids started crying, the SWAT showed up, yelling instructions but I’d already taken out my hearing aids, then I realised I was dreaming and woke up.
